Our Mission
What We’re Here For
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee was founded to (1) promote and maintain a safe and inclusive space for minority students, faculty, and staff members, free of systematic racism, exclusion, and inequality (2) create awareness and dialogue around instances of overt and covert harassment and discriminatory actions (e.g., microaggressions), and (3) design initiatives tailored to the advancement of minority individuals within the Psychology Department at Rutgers University - Newark.

Who We’re Here For
By “minority,” we mean members of any underrepresented group in psychology. These groups include, but are not necessarily limited to, ethnic and racial minorities (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), first-generation college students; LGTBQ individuals; and people with a physical disability. We also acknowledge the intersection of these minority statuses (e.g., many BIPOC students are also first-generation college students).
